Network Security
In the Field of Network Security, there are a lot of things you will have to look out for, and some of those things can include attacks using simple commands you could use everyday on your computer. These commands in particular for this post are Ping and Tracert in your command window. ICMP Echo Protocol is relatively harmless, but even it can have some security related problems. Just some of the issues related to ping such as Honored Ping requests, they can yield information about internal structures of networks, this wouldn’t be a problem for public servers since their public, but for server that are mean to be private it can be a bigger security risk.
There are plenty of other things that can be used on networks or businesses, one such attack I happen to deal with on a daily basis in AT&T is Social engineering. Social Engineering is the manipulation of network systems or people in charge of those networks to do various things, like scam artist tricking someone to give them a large amount of money, all the way to getting access to otherwise classified information which can open a very large hole in a security system.
Another kind of issue for security can be email spam, spam is unsolicited and often irrelevant or inappropriate messages sent over the internet, typically to a large number of users, primarily for advertising, phishing, spreading malware, or other similar purposes. Now most spam you might get normal might be in the context of you dealing with a business and you get some text notifications you don’t want to get, but in a lot of cases scam artists or even people trying to get access to systems can lace those spam email with malware or other additions that mess with systems or steal information.
